Terms of Use
FasterTale Music Bot · Last updated: October 17, 2026
By using FasterTale Music Bot, the user agrees to these Terms of Use. If the user does not agree, they must not use the service.
Description of the service
FasterTale Music Bot plays ambient music in a Discord voice channel during tabletop role-playing game sessions. It is controlled from a web page. It is provided free of charge by FasterTale, the personal lab of Martin Bissonnette, to a limited group of users.
Beta service — Assumption of risk
FasterTale Music Bot is an experimental project currently under development and offered as a beta version.
The user acknowledges that the service may contain bugs, errors, interruptions, data loss or malfunctions, and that its features may be modified, suspended or removed without notice.
By choosing to use the service, the user acknowledges having been informed of its experimental nature and accepts the risks normally associated with using beta software.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without any guarantee of continuous operation, availability or freedom from errors, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FasterTale, its author and its contributors shall in no event be held legally or financially liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the service, including but not limited to:
- data loss, an interrupted game session, sound problems or any other inconvenience;
- a suspension, ban, warning or any other action taken against the user's account by a third-party platform (Discord, YouTube, Google, etc.);
- a fine, penalty or claim from an authority, a rights holder or a performing rights organization (for example SOCAN);
- any dispute arising from the content the user plays or from the way they use the service.
The user uses the service at their own risk and under their sole responsibility.
Third-party platforms
The tracks played may come from third-party websites (YouTube and others), and the audio goes through Discord. Each of these platforms has its own terms of service, independent of these Terms. Many of them restrict standard accounts to personal, non-commercial use, and some regulate or prohibit playback of their content by external software.
FasterTale is not affiliated with, associated with or endorsed by these platforms, and cannot guarantee that the user's use complies with their rules. The only way to avoid any platform-related issue is to use audio files for which the user holds the rights.
User responsibility and copyright
FasterTale Music Bot is simply a playback tool: it does not provide, host, review or control any of the content that users add or play (audio files, links to YouTube or other websites, playlists).
- The user is solely responsible for their use of the service and for the content they add, play or share.
- It is the user's responsibility to ensure that they hold all the rights, licenses and permissions required to use and broadcast this content, including in a Discord voice channel, and to comply with the terms of the websites it comes from.
- It is also the user's responsibility to ensure that the way they play music complies with the terms of each platform used and with the laws where they live, especially if the music is played in front of an audience or in a commercial setting.
- FasterTale and its author shall in no event be held liable for the way the user uses the service, nor for any infringement of copyright or other rights arising from the content the user uses.
- Should any claim, complaint or lawsuit be brought against FasterTale or its author as a result of the user's use of the service or of their content, the user agrees to assume full responsibility for it and to hold FasterTale and its author harmless.
- Any content reported as problematic may be removed, and the access of the user concerned suspended, without notice.
Acceptable use
- The service is intended for personal and private use among players only.
- The user must comply with the Discord Terms of Service.
- The user must not attempt to bypass the security of the service or to disrupt it.
- Accounts are created by the administrator, who may revoke access at any time.
Personal information
How the user's personal information is collected and protected is described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes
These Terms may change along with the service. The date at the top of the page indicates the current version. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Contact and governing law
For any question, or to report a problem, the user may contact the administrator on Discord. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and of Canada. In case of discrepancy between this English version and the French version, the French version prevails.
